Choosing the right monitor for your Dell XPS 17

Any of the above external monitors will make a great addition to your XPS 17, but you probably only want one. If you're looking to go with a great 4K monitor and don't want to overspend, Dell's own S2721QS is a great pick thanks to its HDR support, built-in speakers, accurate color, and ergonomic stand. The Dell UltraSharp U2723QE is a step up when it comes to color reproduction and overall features, making it better suited for creators and professionals with deeper pockets. It's our top pick overall as long as you're OK with spending a bit bigger on a 4K resolution.

In our Dell XPS 17 (2022) review, it was confirmed that it's a high-quality laptop made for creators and editors. In that case, something like the Asus ProArt PA278CV that we also reviewed favorably is a top pick. It's not as expensive as you think, and it features a 27-inch QHD resolution with refresh rate up to 75Hz and excellent color.

There's also the 28-inch Samsung UR55 4K display for those who'd like something with AMD FreeSync. Our collection of the best budget 4K monitors has more high-res screens to choose from. Those who'd like an ultrawide screen, which is essentially two displays in one package, should check out the premium LG UltraWide 38WN95C-W, the slightly cheaper BenQ EW3880R, or the much more affordable LG 29WP60G-B. There is a difference in resolution and overall features, but all will deliver a great oversized picture on a single stand.

And gamers out there should check out the budget ASUS TUF VG259QR or premium Samsung Odyssey G7. Both are set up well to handle the demands of gaming, and they'll also work well for productivity tasks. Be sure to check out our collection of the best gaming monitors for more options.
