Google's latest Pixel smartphones are among the best Android phones you can buy right now. Its flagship Pixel 7 series offers a great package overall at a significantly lower price than the competition, while the Pixel 7a is the best cheap Android phone currently on the market. The devices are hard to beat at full price, and they're now even more attractive with these Prime Day deals that bring them down to their lowest prices yet. On top of that, you can also pick up a pair of Google's highly-acclaimed wireless earbuds or the Pixel Watch at discounted prices to complete your Pixel collection.

Google Pixel Fold and Tablet join the bleeding edge with Android 14 Beta 4

The stable release is just around the corner

Android 14 Beta 4 is rolling out today for eligible Pixel devices. For folks keeping track of the development cycle, this is the last expected major release before it hits the stable milestone and is ready for the masses. This latest version also picks up support for the brand new Pixel Fold as well as the Pixel Tablet, which means it's the last chance for the app developers to get those tuning-and-testing toes wet before Android 14 is released.

In case you're thinking, "today's a Wednesday, but Pixel updates usually land on Mondays," you're right, Google is indeed a little bit behind its usual schedule. This month's release has been delayed slightly until today, as a result of 4th July's federal holiday to celebrate Independence Day in the US. Nonetheless, Google's freshly baked Pixel software updates for July are finally here.

Best smartphone cameras in 2023

Looking for the phone with the best camera? We have tested all the latest phones and here's an in-depth guide on the best smartphone cameras!

Picking the phone with the best camera used to be an easy exercise. In the early days of the smartphone, the iPhone's camera was leaps and bounds better than Android's offerings. Then big-name Android brands caught up, and for a couple of years in the mid-2010s, Samsung held the crown. Towards the latter part of the decade, I'd argue Google and Huawei each respectively dominated the software and hardware part of mobile photography. But starting around 2020 or so, other brands stepped up their digital imaging game by investing more resources; Apple paid more attention to computational photography, and Samsung took a page or two out of Huawei's book in terms of camera hardware.

Tech devices I rely on for my summertime fun

Summer is about adventures without tech, but that doesn't mean you should just leave all your gadgets behind.

When the weather turns warm as we enter summer, many of us spend a lot more time outside. Whether that's going to concerts, hiking, playing sports, camping, or just cookouts at home, our daily habits shift for a while. But even with this added time spent outdoors, we've become so accustomed to having technology and gadgets around that we still tend to find ways to incorporate them into our summer activities.

Android 14 is finally here! For lucky owners of the Pixel 7a or any Pixel phone as old as the Pixel 4a 5G, you'll be among the first users to see what Android 14 has to offer, as these phones can participate in Google's beta initiative.

5 features Google Pixel should take from third party Android skins

Pixel's software is Google's "true" version of Android, but other Android versions have some great software ideas that Google should adopt.

Google's Pixel phones are critically acclaimed in two specific areas: camera performance and overall software. The former is well deserved, as Pixel phones have consistently ranked at or near the very top of any best smartphone camera lists despite never actually having the best camera hardware. But the unanimous praise for the Pixel software? I've always felt that was more of a reputation award. After all, Google makes Android, so its version of Android must be the best, right?

Google Pixel 7 Pro vs Oppo Find X6 Pro: The best software vs the best hardware

The Pixel 7 Pro is best known for its software smarts. How does it compare against a phone that's all about using the best hardware

The Google Pixel 7 Pro is one of the very best all-around flagships on the market. It's priced well, has a unique design, and is one of the very best camera systems in the whole industry. In North America, it's easily my choice for the best Android phone, edging out the far pricier and unwieldy Galaxy S23 Ultra and a OnePlus 11 that's missing wireless charging and a good zoom lens.

Google is prepping the sweet treat of Android 14 for its Pixel smartphones, and users on the beta program are starting to see a fresh new update today. The upcoming major release of Android has just hit another milestone with a Beta 2.1 hotfix making its debut alongside a bunch of stability improvements.

The Pixel 7 is having an awkward middle child moment.

Google's Pixel 7a has only been out for a few days, but it has already raised the stakes for what you can expect from a budget phone in 2023. Yes, it's right at the top of what I'd consider "budget" with a $499 price tag, but it's impressive how it blurs the line between a mid-range phone and a flagship. It shares such a tightly-knit DNA with its flagship sibling that it leaves the standard Pixel 7 in an awkward middle ground where it doesn't do enough to stand out or particularly excel in its own lineup.

Android 13 QPR3 Beta 3.2 update brings plenty of connectivity fixes to Pixel devices

Google has pushed the Android 13 QPR3 Beta 3.2 update, bringing more improvements, with a focus on connectivity fixes.

Android 13 QPR3 Beta 3.2 is rolling out to select Google Pixel smartphones. The over-the-air (OTA) update brings a wealth of new bug fixes, with most focusing on connectivity issues. Google states that this update is for select devices, which means you currently must have an eligible device running Android 13 QPR3 Beta. If your device is running a different version of the OS like the Android 14 Beta, you will not see this update, and you will not have access to it.

Back in February this year, Google published the first developer preview build of Android 14. The beta branch picked up its introductory release about a month ago. Now, shortly after today's main I/O 2023 keynote, Google rolled out Android 14 Beta 2 for the Pixel devices.

Samsung mimics Pixel 7 Pro by bringing 2x portrait zoom to Galaxy S23

You can already take photos at 1x and 3x zoom, but many find 2x to be the sweet spot.

Google’s Pixel 7 Pro is widely regarded as one of the best Android cameras out there. It has a generous 50-megapixel camera sensor at the back, making it perfect for capturing anything from the night sky to the smallest bug and everything else in between. For portraits, you can shoot at any zoom level from a normal 1x zoom to 30x, but it's generally easier to shoot at around the two-times zoom mark. The Pixel 7 Pro’s rival, the Samsung Galaxy S23, also has a portrait mode but strangely didn't have a 2x zoom — until now.

Google Meet on Pixel 7 smartphones is about to become much more immersive

A new speaker separation option for Google Meet users with Pixel 7 devices has been introduced.

Over the past few years, most of us have grown accustomed to being on some type of online video call or meeting. While some interactions can be quite tame, only containing a few people, others can be pretty large, with more than 20 people on screen at a time. For the most part, it can get a bit confusing if you're not completely locked in, but Google's bringing a new solution to try and help users on Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro devices, called 'speaker separation' that will bring a more immersive yet dynamic experience to all your Google Meet encounters.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs Google Pixel 7 Pro: Which flagship should you buy?

The Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Pixel 7 Pro are some of the flagship Android phones to check out right now, but which one is for you?

When it comes to the best Android smartphones, two companies sit at the top of the market: Samsung and Google. The former just introduced the Galaxy S23 Ultra, complete with a large display, S Pen, powerful new processor, and 200MP camera. Meanwhile, the latter’s Pixel 7 Pro, which released last year, was at the top of its class with some of the smartest features on the market and a tried-and-true flagship experience.

Google Pixel 7 series camera bug refuses to save photos taken in certain situation

It looks like Google Pixel 7 series handsets are running into a bit of an issue when it comes to shooting zoom photos in low light.

The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are considered by many to be some of the best Android smartphones out right now. While they might not be the most cutting edge when it comes to design, the Pixel series has a look all its own, and also receives timely software updates ahead of other manufacturers. Furthermore, you get access to software tools that aren't simply available from anyone else. But, things aren't always perfect with Pixel devices, and it looks like the Pixel 7 series models are now experiencing issues when it comes to saving photos under certain shooting conditions.

Samsung Galaxy S23+ vs Google Pixel 7 Pro: Which flagship should you buy?

Samsung's Galaxy S23+ looks like an impressive package, but how does it stack up against Google's Pixel 7 Pro? Let's find out!

Samsung's 2023 flagship lineup includes three new phones — the compact Galaxy S23, a slightly bigger Galaxy S23+, and the top-of-the-line Galaxy S23 Ultra. The Plus model, once again, sits between the regular Galaxy S23 and the Ultra unit, offering a solid middle ground for those who want a device with just a bigger display without burning a huge hole in their pockets. The Galaxy S23+, just like its siblings, comes with a fresh coat of paint and a couple of design changes. It's also the perfect size to go against a lot of other flagships on the market. It's not as small as the regular Galaxy S23 or not as big and unwieldy as the Ultra model.

For some people, even Google's version of Android isn't perfect. While the lack of a heavy-handed skin is welcome, many users will find shortcomings on vanilla Android that they'd like to tweak. In case you're rocking the Pixel 6 or 7 and you're ready to say goodbye to the software updates from Google a little early, why not hop on the LineageOS train?

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro scroll stutter fix will arrive in future update

Apparently, Google has chimed in, sharing that a fix for the issue is coming.

The Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are great smartphones, offering their own distinct designs, having plenty of power under the hood and excellent software features and updates. For the most part, they're one of the best Android smartphones on the market. While the reviews have been quite positive, there have been some issues surrounding the handsets. Perhaps one of the most impacting is the scroll stutter problem that countless number of people have complained about since pretty much the launch of the phones.
